Deceit

Cover up your face
With tons of makeup
To hide your nature
And wear a mask of
Eyeshadows and blushes.

Coat your fiery tongue
With saccharine lies
To woo your colleagues,
To coax your friends
And seal the deal.

Dress under layers
Of fashionable plumes
And build an armor against
The scathing attacks
Of your own insecurity.

Splash a myriad of colors
On your personality
And let the chameleon
Take over, pleasing anyone
But yourself.

I would like to thank fiveloaf, louisedouglas, and bendedspoon for giving me this award:

RULES:

1. Thank the person who awarded you and link back to them in your post.

2. Tell 7 random facts about yourself.

3. Pass the award on to 15 new found bloggers.

4. Contact each blogger you want to pass the award on to and let them know you’ve done so, and let the giver of your award know you accept it.

I won't pass this award yet. But I'm going to share seven things about myself. Here they are:

1. I love using organic beauty products. I love Human Heart Nature, but I hope more of their products will also be available in shops I frequent. :)

2. I haven't played the piano for quite a long time now, so now I'm a little scared to touch the keys because I'm afraid I won't be able to play good music anymore. But there's only one way to find out, and that's to sit down and play like I used to.

3. Friday is my favorite day of the week.

4. I love four seasons juice. That's my favorite juice flavor.

5. I love my wavy hair. I don't want to have it straightened.

6. Piano music, particularly Yiruma's, clears my mind and calms me down.

7. I can't swim. Haha! :))

  9. There comes a time when you are more important than others around you. Here's to a clearer recognition of those times.

  11. @Kim Nelson: Yes. As no one is perfect, there are times when we become deceitful even if we don't mean it or we don't realize it, like when we tell a simple white lie. But what's important is we do our best to avoid deceiving others as much as we can. Thanks for the comment :)

@booguloo: Sometimes we think out self worth is based on what others think of us. Hence, we misrepresent ourselves. Thank you for the comment. :)

@Jingle: Thank you! An A++ to you, too. Because of your Poetry Potluck, poet bloggers get to read and enjoy each others' works. :)

@Olivia: Wow thank you. I'm glad you like this one. :)

@fiveloaf: Thank you for the comment. I love your works, too. Your blog is amazing. :)

@Lyn: Yeah we can't. It will always find its way out of the box we're hiding it in. Thank you for your comment. :)

@Mary: Wow thank you! Your comment is motivating. Thank you. :)

@James: Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for the follow as well. :)

@louisedouglas: Wow thank you. Your artworks capture me, too. :) Thank you for sharing your talent.

@bendedspoon: Yeah they're everywhere, even within us. Thank you for the comment. And oh, at least you can swim even if it's just five meters. I can't swim any distance at all! Haha.

@beccagivens: Thank you for your comment, especially about the ending. I'm so glad you appreciate my piece. And yes, my pleasure in introducing you to Yiruma. I hope you enjoy his music, too. :)

@JamieDedes: Thank you for your comment. I'll be sharing more things about me in my future blog entries. Happy Potluck! :)

  14. I think I can relate to the second verse a lot.. from the sufferer side :P lies to get what they want, sometimes, I feel tit for tat becomes a necessity with such!

  18. @moodynightingale: Thank you for dropping a line. :) I hope to see you here more often.

@Vinay: I guess all of us experience being deceived in one way or another. Glad to know that you were able to relate. Whenever someone says that about my works, I feel I've done more than write a good piece. Thank you :)

@Kavita: Wow thank you! Glad to know you liked this piece, too. Masked beauties are everywhere, so it's important for us to be discerning. :)

@Promising Poets: Thank you for the invite and the support. For now, Poetry Potluck is something I can commit to. Re. Poets Rally, maybe when I've got more time in my hands. But thank you for your support. :D

@Luke: I enjoy reading your works at WordSalad. Nice to see you here. Thank you for your comment :)
